Secretariat of the Chemical Composition Testing Committee under the National Steel Standardization Committee

The Steel and Alloy Chemical Composition Determination Sub-committee of the National Steel Standardization Technical Committee (the “Sub-committee”) is a subordinate to the National Steel Standardization Technical Committee (the “Committee”), operating under the leadership of the Committee. The Sub-committee is made up of scientific and technical personnel from three areas (representatives of steel enterprises and steel standardization management departments, representatives of users and inspection bodies, representatives of research & design units and institutions of higher education). A secretariat is established under the Sub-committee, based in the General Iron & Steel Research Institute.

The tenet of the Sub-committee is to give full play to experts of production, use, research, teaching, supervision, inspection, certification and distribution thus better develop standardization in its own field. The Sub-committee is a technical working organization for nationwide standardization in the field of steel and alloy chemical composition determination (the “specialty”).

Its specific tasks are as follows:

According to the national guidelines and policies for standardization, study and put forward suggestions on guidelines, policies and technical measures for standardization of the specialty;

According to the principles for preparing and revising national standards and the guideline of actively adopting international standards and overseas advanced standards, prepare and perfect the standard system table of the specialty, put forward suggestions on long-range planning and annual plans for preparing and revising national standards and industrial standards of the specialty;

According to approved plans, organize preparation and revision of national standards and industrial standards of the specialty as well as standardization-related research;

Organize review of drafts (for examination) of national standards and industrial standards of the specialty, take responsibility for technical contents of such standard, give opinions on conclusion of such review, regularly recheck unveiled national standards and industrial standards, give opinions on revision, supplement, annulment and continued execution;

Entrusted by the Standardization Administration of the People's Republic of China (SAC) and related departments in charge, undertake publicity, implementation and interpretation of national standards and industrial standards of the specialty, and assist SAC in undertaking domestic technical services geared to technical committees of ISO;

Entrusted by the Standardization Administration of the People's Republic of China (SAC) and related departments in charge, undertake product quality evaluation within the framework of the industrial standards during supervision, inspection, certification and appraisal of product quality; undertake standard review for projects of the specialty; and present analysis reports to the department in charge of such projects.
